Can you share your name and your role at Potato Head?

Alif - I’m the Head of Products. I handle drawings, design, and assist with current and future projects alongside the Architecture and Development team.

⁠What does a typical day at The Desa look like for you?

I spend most of my day split into two parts: 60% in the office and the other 40% visiting sites or suppliers. Some days, it’s the other way around

What’s your favourite spot at The Desa and why?

I like being on the 4th floor, just beside the plunge pool. From there, you can see the courtyard below, and The Futura sculpture looks small from that angle. It’s a great spot to watch people walking around and to get some fresh air between meetings.

What has been the most exciting project you’ve worked on at Potato Head so far?

Working on stage design has been the most fun, mainly because it’s temporary. Sometimes, the results are the most exciting since you have limited time and so many technical aspects to consider for a structure that only lasts 1-2 days.

⁠Do you have a favourite word in Bahasa Indonesia? What does it mean and why do you like it?

It would be “rebahan” which literally means lying horizontally. It’s the most common word used to describe both resting or lounging.

What’s your top tip for Bali? It could be a hidden gem, a favourite restaurant, a bar, or any special place you’d recommend.

Since I often visit Gianyar to see blown glass factories, bamboo artisans, and natural dye facilities, I’d recommend Warong Legong, which offers authentic Indonesian home cooking on Ida Bagus Mantra Road. Their oxtail soup reminds me of my mom’s cooking.

If you could describe the vibe at Potato Head in three words, what would they be?

Sundowns, earth-pink, daybeds

Looking ahead, which upcoming project excites you the most?

I’m most excited about focusing on product development — working with the in-house Waste Lab team to develop new amenities and explore new materials.
