Can you share your name and your role at Potato Head?

Dambi Kim. (farm)acist

What does a typical day at The Desa look like for you?

Usually I spend my mornings doing research on herbal medicine and astrology. I love attending midday yoga classes at Sanctuary before having lunch at Tanaman for plant-based dishes or sometimes beachfront for a poke bowl. In the afternoon, I interact a lot with guests and host incense & tea workshops as well as 1:1 consultations.

What’s your favourite spot at The Desa and why?

I personally like going closer to and getting energised by this huge sacred tree near the main lobby behind the huge light-strobe kinetic art installation. It’s very hidden but also where our landscape team organises their plant pots around Desa as a working space. I generally love staying close to tree-like people like our Tanaman staff and landscape team. It’s like a big guardian tree for Desa and I would like to see this place more open and accessible to the public one day.

What has been the most exciting project you’ve worked on at Potato Head so far?

There have been many interesting projects over the last four months since I joined the team. However, the Merasa festival with Erykah Badu was by far the most phenomenal. It beautifully integrated wellness, music, and performance art, with a diverse range of offerings curated by a global collective of creative healing practitioners.

Looking ahead, which upcoming project excites you the most?

I am excited to see the future collaboration of Potato Head with Ayurvedic doctors and wellness experts who will be coming to the Desa in the coming months.

Do you have a favourite word in Bahasa Indonesia? What does it mean and why do you like it?

I rarely speak Bahasa but everyday I say Terima Kasih to everyone in Bali. They help me a lot and that’s the only word I can express gratitude back to them.

What’s your top tip for Bali? It could be a hidden gem, a favourite restaurant, a bar, or any special place you’d recommend.

Still as a newcomer to the island, I haven’t explored much of the island yet. But I recommend driving towards west Bali around 5 or 6pm for a beautiful sunset and going through rice terraces on a motorbike. I felt like I was in heaven and I saw the true landscape of Bali in the middle of nature.

What’s a memorable guest experience or interaction that stands out to you during your time at The Desa?

I think all the guests are equally important but sometimes I do readings at Thursday Jazz and Tarot nights at Dome and I have seen some couples on the verge of break-ups. Bali for sure has a lot of transformative energies.

If you could describe the vibe at Potato Head in three words, what would they be?

A positive power plant for all.

If you could swap roles with anyone at Potato Head for a day, who would it be and why?

Maybe Tanisha’s job as a yoga teacher or sound healer at Sanctuary since it is one of the reasons I decided to move to Bali to produce music and practice yoga. I would be tempted to spend my whole day doing yoga or playing music all day.
